Eastern Province Athletics proudly presents the 2025 edition of the NMB Gqeberha Ultra Marathon. Join us for an exhilarating race day in Gqeberha, offering distances to suit all runners.

Whether you’re aiming for the 50km ultra marathon or participating in the 10km race, this event promises excitement and community spirit. Find all the details on dates, entry fees, and how to secure your spot below!

Date: Saturday, 1 February 2025

Location: Pollock Beach, Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.

Distances and Starting Times:

  • 50km Ultra Marathon: Starts at 05h00; cut-off at 11h30.
  • 10km Race: Starts at 06h15; cut-off at 08h00.

Entry Fees:

  • 50km Ultra Marathon: R300
  • 10km Race: R120

Note: Temporary license fee is R50.

Online Entries:

  • Online entries close on Wednesday, 29 January 2025, at 17h00.
  • Special Offer: The first 200 entries received for the 50km event will receive a free race T-shirt.

Number Collection:

  • Venue: Pollock Beach
  • Date and Time:
    • Friday, 31 January 2025: 14h00 – 20h00
    • Race day (Saturday, 1 February 2025): from 04h00

Starting and Finishing Point:

  • All races start and finish at Pollock Beach.

Hydration:

  • Refreshment tables will serve water sachets at all points, and cups with Coke from 9km onwards.

Parking:

  • Available on the grass area at Pollock Beach, accessible from 4th Avenue and 8th Avenue.

Timing:

  • Timing will be done from gun to mat.

Headphones:

  • The use of music players with headphones is not allowed and may result in disqualification.

Prize Giving:

  • 10km Race: 08h00
  • 50km Ultra Marathon: 11h30

Additional Information:

  • Cut-off Time: There will be an official cut-off time on the 50km route at the 42.2km timing mat at 10h30 (5h30).
  • Route:
    • 50km Ultra Marathon: A circular route starting and finishing at Pollock Beach, running through Summerstrand, Walmer, Mount Pleasant, Seaview, Schoenmakerskop, and back along Marine Drive.
    • 10km Race: An out-and-back route from Pollock Beach towards Noordhoek.
  • Road Closures: No road closures are planned for this event except Marine Drive from Admiralty Way to Noordhoek Skiboat Club between 06h15 and 08h00.
